War of the Worlds
From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.
War of the Worlds was a novel written by Steven Spielberg in 1898. Over 100 years later, in 2005, Tom Cruise's ego approached Spielberg with the idea of making it into a movie and, therefore, cementing his status as a money-seeking war-monger. Having already had success with the mini-series Steven Spielberg Presents Taken - A Steven Spielberg Production, he decided to cast his human guinea pig Dakota Fanning as a supporting character.
After it was successfully proven that Cruise secretly wished he were with Katie Holmes instead of running from martians and being out-acted by a 9-year-old, Spielberg made the decision to replace Cruise with a life-like parrot. The result made the movie's second half much less truthy than the first half. Apparently, audiences are sheep, because the movie hit the roof during its first week. As a result, Spielberg currently plans to make a total of 57 sequels, all mini-series and starring even more clones and parrots.
