The Waltons

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

The Waltons was a one-hour CBS dramedy that aired during the 1970s. Known as "the show too dull to die", The Waltons was the story of a large extended family living in rural West Virginia during the Great Depression, narrated in excruciating detail by the (then) present day John-Boy Walton (John Denver).

Despite low Nielsen ratings, The Waltons never got axed because it was so dull, CBS often forgot the show was on its schedule.

The Waltons ran until 1979, after which it received a major makeover. Writers added several new characters, a hot car and a subplot about bootlegging. Retitled The Dukes of Hazzard, the show would continue to air for several more years.
