The Shawshank Redemption
From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.
The Shawshank Redemption is a 1994 movie starring Morgan Freeman and a guy you want to say is Sean Penn, but isn't. Its near-constant broadcast on TNT prompted a long and bitter legal battle to allow the film to be recognized as an official TV series. So far, the case has been inconclusive, but it stands a better chance than A Christmas Story, thanks to the War on Christmas.
The movie centers around a Maine banking executive who, after committing numerous horrific murders, takes advantage of the kindness of a prison warden and guards, wildly disrupts the daily routine of penitentiary life, damages prison property with a rock-polishing knife, and ultimately leaves without paying for any of it.
The film was later loosely remade as a Fox TV series, Prison Break.
