The Flash
From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.
The Flash—based on the popular DC Comics comic book—was a 1991 TV show that ran on CBS for exactly two episodes, both starring Mark Hamill as the title character, Flash Gordon. Despite the show's kick-ass soundtrack (contributed by legendary rock band Jethro Tull), no one cared.
The show co-starred Amanda Pays as Theora Jones and Jeffrey Tambor as Mr. Sunshine.
The theme song for The Flash was I Whupped Batman's Ass by Wesley Willis.
In 2007, The SciFi Channel aired a remake of the original series, set in modern day Vancouver. This version of the show was originally titled Flash, but was retitled Flash Gordon so the producers wouldn't get sued by DC Comics and Justice League Unlimited. The reimaged show is supposedly based on a Great Depression era radio serial, but as all copies of the 1930s show were lost in a mysterious fire in Burbank this statement is impossible to prove.
