This is a common misconception -- all Brat Packers ultimately looking alike as they age, unfortunately including Ally Sheedy -- which Fox attempted to capitalize on. As the article mentions, they actually did cast Kiefer Sutherland as "Mack Bauer," Jack's long-lost cousin, on the attempted spinoff 8 1/2; he played a CIA agent turned movie producer attempting to unearth a terrorist plot on the set of his latest surrealist art film. Unfortunately, it was cancelled after only 4 1/2 of its planned 8 1/2 episodes, and replaced by Seal Hunting With Celebrities, an import of a popular Canadian reality series.
