TRL

TRL stands for Total Request Live, a call-in show that aired on MTV during the 1980s. Viewers would call in requests for music videos, which MTV would then air.

Once MTV began broadcasting shows such as The Real World, executives realized that they didn't actually have to play any music on MTV. As a result, TRL was quickly cancelled.
