Scrubs
From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.
Scrubs is a half-hour series on NBC, chronicling the bittersweet lives of a group of mental patients who have stumbled upon a cache of white coats and stethoscopes, and now believe that their insane asylum is a hospital, and that they are the doctors. They also believe that their lives are being realistically dramatized on ABC's hit series Grey's Anatomy.
The lead character, John "J.D." Dorian (Zach Braff), is a schizophrenic, tormented by his inability to stop narrating his own life, an omnipresent soundtrack of trendy emo-rock hits, and a satanic janitor whom only he can see.
While the series has received considerable critical praise, its commercial success has been stymied by a vicious publicity campaign led by the music group TLC and its song "No Scrubs." In the song, the group chides Dorian for his shabby appearance, his apparant inability to own a car and having "weak game."
