Sailor Moon

Sailor Moon was a Japanese anime centering around the lives of several young Japanese schoolgirls. Tired of school and in search of adventure, the girls build their own sailboat, which they dub the "Tuxedo Mask". Using the Moon and the planets to guide them, the group sails around the islands of Japan, and eventually across the ocean to South America.

Unlike most anime, Sailor Moon did not feature giant monsters, robots, martial-arts masters with unbelievable powers, or teenage girls who could somehow defeat any of the above opponents. For this reason, although Sailor Moon was syndicated, the show never gained a large audience in America.
