Raines

Raines is yet another in a seemingly endless series of crime dramas being broadcast on NBC. Created by the executive producer of The Shawshank Redemption, Raines stars Jeff Goldblum as a grown-up Haley Joel Osmond, who was given the nickname "Raines" from his time spent as a meteorologist at a local Los Angeles affiliate. Raines, who has an uncanny ability to predict the weather in California during the summer, is hired by the LAPD to try and predict where crimes will occur. Armed with nothing but a green laser pointer, an army of the dead which he converses with from time to time, and a trusty supercomputer nicknamed "HAL", Raines must thwart crime throughout LA before it happens.

Originally scheduled to air on Sundays in the fall, Raines was pre-empted until Winter 2007 when NBC won the rights to broadcast John Madden going "BAP! POW! BOOM!" on Sunday Night Football.
