Radio
From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.
Radio was an earlier, more powerful version of television, which had the ability to put three-dimensional images directly into people's minds via their ears, rather than via flat two-dimensional images through their eyes. Radio was surpassed by the much cheaper television during the 1950s.
Many popular shows first got their start on radio, until the inexpensive production costs of television lured them away. The Lone Ranger, Meet the Press, and Campaign! are just a few of these radio-first shows.
