Police Squad!

Police Squad! was a hard-boiled police procedural that aired on ABC in the early 80s. It was cancelled after just nine episodes, despite the presence of Leslie Nielsen in the cast. However, despite its short run, it was highly influential, serving as the inspiration for a number of police dramas to follow, including Homicide: Life on the Street, Law & Order, Unsolved Mysteries, Due South, NYPD Blue, and The Wire.
