Perfect Strangers was a fish-out-of-water sitcom on ABC that starred Bronson Pinchot as stolid farmer Balki and Mark-Linn Baker as the incompetent American cousin who moved in with him on his Czech homestead. The laughs came from Baker's continued inability to adapt to traditional culture and Balki's increasingly intricate plans to keep both cousins from being thrown in prison.
