Outdoor Life Network

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

The Outdoor Life Network, or OLN, is a channel that shows life that happens outdoors. In 2005, however, OLN bought the rights to National Hockey League contests, which forced the NHL to play its games outdoors for the 2005-06 season. It was a disaster, as 326 fans died of frostbite at a Minnesota-Edmonton game, while several players ruined their skates during a game in Miami. Finally, the season was cancelled, and the Stanley Cup was awarded to the Detroit Red Wings, the only team still playing.

Cyclist Lance Armstrong also became a star on OLN, when he rode his bicycle all the way from Paris to singer Sheryl Crow's house in Los Angeles. Crow rejected him, however, claiming he wasn't "strong enough to be my man." Armstrong took it in stride, however, saying "every day is a winding road." He now hosts Countdown! With Lance Armstrong on MSNBC.

OLN recently resolved a dispute with Dish Network with a death match between the two channel's CEOs. The winner of that struggle is unknown, however, as it was carried live on OLN at the same time NBC was airing a Very Special Episode of Will & Grace, "Grace And Karen Finally Do It While Elton John Watches," which drew a record 172 share, breaking the old record held by the final episode of Roots, the ground-breaking gardening documentary.

On April 28, 2006, OLN announced they were changing their name to "Versus." No, really. I'm not kidding, man...here's the link: [1]. See? See? That's a damn sight funnier than anything in this article.
