Nip/Tuck

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

Nip/Tuck is a drama series on FX, created by Ryan Murphy, about the lives of plastic surgeons in Miami.

The show was originally a last-ditch effort to combine unused footage from the scrapped Fox TV special When Plastic Surgeries Attack with Murphy's failed pilot Dr. South Beach, about the lives and loves of diet doctors in Florida. Re-edited and largely recast to make the lead characters plastic surgeons, Nip/Tuck drew record audiences with a successful formula combining two elements rarely seen on television: sex and violence.

The show's most controversial storyline came in its second season, when recurring guest star Joan Rivers' character was revealed to be a post-operative transsexual.
