NCIS is one of those CBS procedural crime-solving shows not unlike CSI, but with sailor boys instead of pasty-faced weirdos. An important thematic focus of the show is that US Marines are totally cool.

Despite its reliance on crime-fighting military men, NCIS should not be confused with JAG, since it does feature the talents of JAG himself.

Originally conceived as a spin-off of The Man From U.N.C.L.E..
