Monday Night Football
From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.
Monday Night Football is a weekly prime-time sporting event, pitting soccer teams such as the Tampa Bay Rowdies, New York Cosmos, and San Diego Sockers against one another in thrilling match play. At the end of each season, the team with the most Monday Night Football wins is presented with a silver loving cup and hearty handshake from North American Soccer League Commissioner Bud Selig.
The long-time hosts of Monday Night Football are Kathie Lee Gifford, Meredith Baxter-Birney and the ghost of Howard Cosell, who is only visible to children and dogs.
Next season, Monday Night Football leaves its long-time home on ABC for a slot on ESPN, where it will inevitably feature ill-informed sportswriters ignoring the game on the field to shriek catchphrases at one another.
The series is based on the long-running Canadian series Hockey Night in Canada.
