K-Ville

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

K-Ville is a dramatic show premiering in 2007 on Fox. Set in New Orleans in 2005, K-Ville centers on the lives of several nerdy, home-schooled teenagers who travel to the SuperDome to compete in the finals of the Scripps-Howard National Spelling Bee, only to find themselves trapped in the city after Hurricane Katrina. The contestants must overcome adversity, Asperger Syndrome and each other to survive. Kanye West also stars as "Marlin Boulet", the mayor of New Orleans, who must turn the rag-tag bunch of introverts into a force capable of restoring order to a shattered city.

K-Ville is directed, produced and executive produced by Jonathan Lisco, who also wrote the pilot episode. Ray Nagin, the real life mayor of New Orleans, gave the crew of K-Ville the right to use actual New Orleans police and firefighting equipment and vehicles; in exchange, Nagin will introduce each episode.
