Green Acres

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

Green Acres was an educational television program developed during the 1980s by the state of Kansas, in hopes of improving farming techniques throughout the region. Hosted by noted New York attorney Oliver Wendell Wilkie Holmes, Green Acres focused on subjects such as crop rotation, irrigation, fertilizers and proper tilling methods. In one test city, Smallville, crop yields increased by as much as 80% when the methods described on Green Acres were used.

Hoping to educate farmers across America, Kansas syndicated Green Acres nationwide in 1985 under the title US Farm Report. Unfortunately, most affiliate stations preferred to air Small Wonder in that time slot instead, and the show was quickly cancelled.
