Great Depression

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

Now, I know this may be hard for you kids to believe, but once upon a time there weren't 500+ channels of tv to choose from. Back in the early days (ask your grandparents!) there didn't even used to be cable or satellite. People actually got television through something called an antenna that looked like a metal modern art sculpture and sat on top of the tv set. (They weren't flat back then--they were big and bulky so that there was room on the top to set things. I know, crazy!) You were lucky if you could pick up two different channels; three if you were really lucky. You had to watch whatever was on those two or three channels. And there weren't any DVDs or video games either.

These times were known as the Great Depression.
