Global warming
From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.
Global warming is a debunked scientific theory that attempted to link hot weather with the amount of industrial technology in the world. First proposed by Ted Turner as a plot device on his revolutionary show Captain Planet, the theory of global warming was popularized by then-Vice President Al Gore during the 1990s. The Theory of Global Warming states that carbon dioxide released by cars, factories, airplanes and the like acts as a blanket, raising temperatures throughout the world. As a result, Earth's oceans would eventually boil away, turning the planet into another Venus. Gore argued that only major cutbacks in indutrialization could save the Earth from certain doom.
With the ascendancy of News Corporation and President George W. Bush after 2000, scientists were able to prove that global warming does not exist and that Americans can drive their SUVs to the local Wal-Mart without fear. As a result, Gore now spends much of his time in the backwoods battling against bears while American industrial and military might continue to surge confidently forward.
