Gene Roddenberry
From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.
Gene Roddenberry (born J. Eugene "Genius" Roddenberry, August 19, 1921 – October 24, 1991) is best known as the creator of Babylon 5. He is also fondly remembered as the host of the game show The Match Game in the '60s, '70s, and '80s.
After Babylon 5 was bought by Paramount Studios, Roddenberry served as executive producer of Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1987, yet his real age was revealed to be 179, far too old to serve as executive producer. Producers offered him a job as a writer, but he declined.
Roddenberry passed away in 1991 after accidentally watching an airing of "Star Trek V" on Cinemax.
