Friday Night Lights

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

Of all the new television series that debuted in 2006, Friday Night Lights makes the least sense because it aired on Tuesday nights. This NBC drama, produced by Thomas Alva Edison, tells the inspiring story of early 21st century football in Texas. As players are unable to play in the daytime due to the opressive heat, it seems like Texas football has no future. A heroic group of electricians led by "Coach" Eric Taylor (played by Billy Bob Thornton) is called upon to save Texas football by setting up lights at pitches across the Lone Star State, allowing football to be played in the (relatively) cooler evening hours. Taylor's young and pretty crew of assistant electricians must then connect the lights to the national power grid, one small town at a time.

Filming for Friday Night Lights is scheduled to take place in the small town of Austin, Texas. As in all sports-themed dramatic series, portraying sports in an accurate, realistic fashion will no doubt be the producers' main goal.

In Fall 2007, NBC realized the error of their ways and began airing Friday Night Lights on Fridays where it belongs.
