Firefly
From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.
Firefly was a science-fiction television show on Fox, created by Joss Whedon, about a motley crew of space cowboys who spoke in a folksy, Chinese-peppered patois and committed crimes of varying pettiness. Its excellence as a TV program was, alas, inversely proportional to the skill with which Fox promoted it. Aired out of order and frequently interrupted for baseball, Firefly was cancelled after 12 of its 15 episodes aired, surprising no one who was even remotely familiar with Fox's previous handling of quality shows.
Firefly lives on in a wildly successful DVD box set; an excellent but little-seen big-screen sequel, Serenity; and a legion of terrifying fans.
