Fat actresses

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

An elite cadre of women who are allowed to work in television despite their inability to diet themselves down to a size 0. Past notable Fat Actresses have included Camryn Manheim (who subsequently dieted), Kathy Najimy (ditto), Gilmore Girls's Melissa McCarthy (ditto), and Lesley Boone (doomed to obscurity following Ed's cancellation; oh, and ditto).

Kirstie Alley attempted to break into the ranks of Fat Actresses in 2005, but was rejected because the American public would prefer she be punished for the sins of preferring food to cocaine.

Fat actresses are permitted to be competent at work so long as they don't also demand a love life. They are more often used as the comic sidekick. Their two most useful traits are in distracting viewers from noticing that the lead female character is something of a simpering ninny, and in bringing the pathos when they're forced to trot through the plotlines where their lard precludes them from finding love.

There are currently few Fat Actresses on prime-time television. There are, however, plenty of Fat Actors. These gentlemen are simply called "actors."
