Eli Stone

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

Eli Stone was a legal drama that aired on ABC sometime in 2008. The show was based on what the producers call "a combination of L.A. Law and the movie Field of Dreams". Former 80s pop star George Michael starred as the titular character, a San Francisco lawyer who attempts to bring his firm's softball team into the ranks of Major League Baseball. Costarring in Eli Stone were Kevin Costner as the firm's/team's enigmatic shortstop, Stuart Scott as the firm's up-and-coming assistant, and Dick Vitale in the role of the firm's founder and head cheerleader.

Despite initially good ratings, ABC was forced to remove Eli Stone from its lineup after they were threatened with a lawsuit from Major League Baseball, who claimed the show's plot was too similar to that of 2008 World Series.
