EastEnders is the longest running soap opera in the history of English television, dating back to at least the time of William Shakespeare. The list of characters is so long and the plot so convoluted that nobody pretends to understand what's going on anymore, not even the show's writers.

EastEnders is broadcast in every English speaking country in the world. In America, the show is dubbed into Spanish and run on Telemundo, where nobody notices it.
