ESPN7

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

ESPN7 was a former cable television network owned and operated by ESPN. In an attempt to draw viewers away from the non-ESPN controlled ESPN8, ESPN7 aired programming that was even dumber and more bizzare than the competition. Programming included such highlights as World's Weakest Man, Hot or Zombie? and, of course, poker. The most popular show ESPN7 ever had was the Running of the Bears live from Wall Street in New York City.

The collision of the ESPN7 satellite with the massive ego of one Keith Olbermann effectively ended the network's days. ESPN tried to revive it but, unable to compete with the likes of Spike TV and G4, instead sold the network and its lineup to Comcast in 2006. Much like other networks, Comcast merged the best of the ESPN7 progamming with the best of its own Outdoor Life Network to form a brand new network, Versus.
