Duel: The Game Show
From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.
Duel: The Game Show is a game show that began airing on ABC in the late fall of 2007. Developed by Disney executives during the writers strike, Duel: The Game Show is based on the popular 1970's Made-for-TV Movie of the same name. In accordance with the show's ESPN/ABC/Disney heritage, the plot from the above movie was combined with elements of the World Series of Poker and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?.
Game Play
Dozens of contestants are seated on a big stage with lots of bright lights, TV monitors, loud music and other distractions. Every so often, one of them is called onto the stage to have a gunfight with the host, who is seated in the cab of a semi. Images of playing cards flash across the screen as the contestant fires a dueling pistol while answering trivia questions in an attempt to win at least $1 million.
Popularity
While Duel: The Game Show is not yet popular with ABC audiences, it is already the #1 rated show in France.
Limited Run
Duel: The Game Show is only scheduled to run for six episodes, which is probably a good thing for all concerned.
