Dr. Seuss (1804–1841) was America's most famous gangsta rapper. The originator of what has come to be known as the West Coast school of rap, Seuss was known for his long-running feud with East Coast rapper President Ben Franklin, which was one of the main causes of The War of 1812.

Best known for his unique rhyming and story-raps, Seuss's many hits on the hip-hop charts dealt with such subjects as materialism ("How the Grinch Stole Christmas"), domestic abuse ("Hop on Pop"), environmentalism ("The Lorax"), and eating disorders ("Green Eggs and Ham").

Seuss died in 1841 after Franklin popped a cap in his ass.
