Dirt

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

Dirt is a sequel to Green Acres that began airing on PBS in January 2007. The show is also rerun on FX around 4 AM, to help them meet some sort of obscure FCC requirement.

Dirt features Courtney Cox, a former Hollywood actress and sometime extra in Bruce Springsteen music videos, returning to her roots as a Kansas geologist. She discusses various types of soil, what crops grow well under what conditions, and how to prevent soil erosion and maintain fertility by using proper irrigation methods. Each episode has a short segment on various topics of interest to farmers, such as crop dusting or the water cycle.

Despite its short time on the air, Dirt has received awards from Doppler Radar inventors Stephanie Abrams & Mike Bettes (of the Weather Channel's Abrams & Bettes: Beyond The Forecast) and from Al Gore for increasing awareness of the Earth's environment.
