Dick Clark is the most important man on the planet. Without his intervention each New Year's Rockin' Eve, the calendar would be unable to turn from December 31 to January 1, and time would become stuck at midnight.

His ability to push the world forward to another year is only one demonstration of his ability to control space-time. The other, more obvious one, of course, was his way of showing surprise whenever the "Mystery 7" would show up during his hosting gig at The $100,000 Pyramid.
