Coupling (U.K.)
From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.
Coupling was a sitcom -- or, in the British parlance, a "program of amusement" -- created by Steven Moffatt for the BBC. It dealt with the lives, loves, and sexual exploits of a group of six cheerfully acquainted young professionals. The three male and three female characters often discussed their sex lives with unusual frankness and a high degree of coded phrases. Popular phrases born from the show included "the three-sock shuffle," "waffle-ironing," and "sticking my tongue down her throat."
It was a remake of Friends on NBC, and in a bit of brutal irony, was briefly remade for NBC in a decision that got everyone involved fired. (Except, of course, for Jeffrey Zucker and the deathless Jon Seda.)
The theme song of Coupling was Who's Up for a Snog, Then?
