Charlotte Rae (born Charlotte Rae Lubotsky on April 22 1926 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is an actress and singer best known today for her portrayal of Ginger Grant, the movie star on Gilligan's Island, and of Mrs. Garrett, a character she originated on the sitcom Diff'rent Strokes and continued in her own spinoff, The Facts of Life, on which she appeared from 1979 through 1986.
