Charlie's Angels

Charlie's Angels (1976-1981) was a wildly popular TV show on ABC. Combining executive producer Aaron Spelling's long-established interest in both religious arcana and cleavage, the show starred John Forsythe as Father Charlie, a priest who discovers a demonic conspiracy to undermine the Catholic Church.

To aid him and his novitiate Bosley in their fight against the forces of evil, God sends Charlie three beautiful angels (Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson, and Jaclyn Smith). Each week, Charlie would dispatch the Angels to seek out and defeat Satan's minions wherever they lurked, be it a charity car wash at an all-girl Catholic school, the Vatican City beach volleyball tournament, or the back rooms of the clergy-run "Holy See" gentleman's club.

Filmed largely in slow motion, as a showcase for the special camera Spelling had invented, the show became an instant hit in its first season. Though ratings stumbled following Fawcett's departure at the beginning of the second season to enter a nunnery, the series survived for another four years, and would eventually be loosely remade as Spelling's WB hit Charmed.

The theme song to Charlie's Angels was Calling All Angels.
