Cane

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

Cane is a dramatic series scheduled to air on CBS in the fall of 2007. Produced by both CBS and ABC, Cane is the first in a series of television programs created by the FCC in anticipation of the proposed "All TV Networks Must Merge Law" that they hope to pass through Congress by the 2008 Presidential Elections.

Plot

Jimmy Smits stars as Pancho, owner of a vast sugar cane plantation in Colombia. Trouble begins to brew when the CIA asks him to plow under his fields and begin smuggling caffeine. With Pancho's vast South American family divided, will he follow his morals or will things descend into a scene out of a typical telenovela? More importantly, will the Cane writing staff be able to handle writing for a cast as large as those of Lost, Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives combined?

Production

Will probably be long and difficult.

Trivia

Cane originally was developed under the title Untitled Project, until CBS and ABC realized that many other proposed series already had that name.
