CNN, or the Cable News Network, is a once-popular cable channel.

Created in 1980 by Ted Turner, CNN struggled in obscurity for years until 1991 when it debuted its hugely successful reality series The Gulf War.

However, CNN was unable to sustain or build off of the success of The Gulf War, and even an ill-conceived 2003 sequel, The Iraq War, was unable to win over viewers from the upstart Fox News Channel.
