The Boston Red Sox were widely considered by ESPN anchors to be the second greatest baseball team of all time. The Red Sox, also known as "The team that traded Babe Ruth", finished second to the New York Yankees in every America's Cup between 1985 and 2003. In a stunning upset, the Red Sox actually beat the Yankees to win the America's Cup in 2004. Having no real reason to exist after that, the Red Sox disbanded shortly after the victory parade.

The remnants of the Red Sox were purchased by the NFL Network, who changed the team's name to the New England Patriots and their sport to football.
