Biker Build-Off
From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.
Biker Build-Off began airing on the Discovery Channel in 1995, back when the channel showed mostly documentaries and nature shows. In this innovative show, teams of bicycle builders from the United States of America and England competed to see which one could build a bicycle out of old junk in only 10 hours. The two team captains would then ride their new bicycles hundreds of miles across the countryside, ending up at bicycle shows where enthusiastic crowds would proclaim one team the winner. Despite the show's popularity with freaks and geeks, it was cancelled in 2002 because it did not have "American", "Monster" or "Shark" in the title. Some additional facts about the show:
- The show went through 168 different hosts in a fruitless effort to find one memorable enough to stick around.
- The team captained by Larry the Cable Guy holds the show record for most wins.
- In England, the show aired on the BBC under the title Bicycle Scraps.
