Betty the Ugly

Betty the Ugly is a drama that began airing on ABC in 2006. Betty the Ugly is based on the telenovela Betty La Fea, which was originally broadcast in Spanish. Despite the fact that Betty the Ugly has been on the air for over a year and is one of ABC's top rated shows, nobody in America (including ABC executives) has any idea what the show's about. As the only clue to the show's plot is the title, a few speculative guesses will need to be made about Betty the Ugly:

1. "Betty" won't be all that ugly. Her "ugliness" will consist of 10 pounds of excess weight (30 of which will be the actress's fat suit), thick glasses, dark hair, and the usual Hollywood accessories depicting plain looks.
2. To accentuate her "plain" looks, Betty will be surrounded by the usual dime-a-dozen Hollywood skanks actresses. Viewers will be able to play "Count the Ribs" while arguing about whose boob job looks the fakest.
3. Betty's "bad looks" will cause her a lot of problems, but somehow she will keep trying to make it to the top of, well, whatever industry the show is about.
4. There will be a man on the show who loves Betty for what she is. Plot requirements will prevent the two from ever getting together, at least for the first couple of seasons (assuming the show lasts that long).
