Barry Diller

One of the pioneers of female stand-up comedy, Barry "Phyllis" Diller created the persona of a wild-haired, oddly-dressed housewife which she portrayed in several television shows, including The Pruitts of Southampton, The Gong Show, and Blossom. She is the co-creator of the show Desperate Housewives, but tragically died in August 2004 before the show debuted.
