BBC America

From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.

BBC America is a minor league cable television network owned by England's BBC. Watched by few Americans and understood by even less (or "fewer", in BBC terms), the entire purpose of BBC America is to try out shows for future broadcast on major television networks. A show that does well (in relative terms) on BBC America may be "Americanized" and put on the US fall schedule. Shows that do poorly are sent to Scotland for refurbishing.

BBC America's broadcast partner is the Discovery Channel for reasons that remain unclear.
