Anime

Anime is animation from Japan. It frequently features giant robots, aliens, monsters, genetically modified humans, genetically modified monsters, entire cities being destroyed, enormous hair in defiance of the laws of physics, schoolgirls in tiny skirts (also in defiance of the laws of physics), and women in various states of undress. These last two parts have made it popular amongst fanboys.
In the U.S., most of the anime which is actually seen by more than a few people airs on either Cartoon Network or its hip alter ego Adult Swim. Of course, many of its fans don't like the dubbing and/or censorship. Curiously enough, big corporations don't really care what they think, so long as they keep coughing up the cash for merchandising.
