American Gladiators
From TeeVeePedia, the Internet TV Encyclopedia.
As if America didn't have enough trouble already, NBC is introducing its latest series, American Gladiators, in January 2008. Based on the early 1st Century Roman show Gladiators and the syndicated early 1990s show Rollergames, American Gladiators features steroid enhanced "athletes" with bizzare names competing against average people for your entertainment.

List of Events
American Gladiators is split into several events, each designed to bring maximum pain to competitors and maximum joy to the lives of the gladiators. Among the scheduled events are:
- Assault: Competitors get tennis balls shot at them for 60 seconds by the gladiators. Future episodes may upgrade this to paintballs.
- Earthquake: Competitors must endure the equivalent of a 10.5 earthquake.
- Gauntlet: Gladiators slap the competitors in the face with a heavy steel glove.
- Hang Tough: Competitors must sing songs made popular by boy bands. This competition may be eliminated in future American Gladiator tournaments.
- Hit and Run: Using American-made pickup trucks, the gladiators try to ram the competitors Made-in-Japan compact economy cars.
- Powerball: The competitors attempt to pick six lucky numbers in order to win millions.
- Pyramid: Using clues given by the gladiators, competitors try to guess the correct subject and win $25,000.
- Joust: In early tapings, competitors and gladiators mounted horses and tried to knock each other off. This event was eliminated at the request of PETA.
- The Wall: Using rock music, competitors try to knock down a large concrete wall while being assaulted by gladiators wearing German army uniforms.
- The Eliminator: All competitors are eliminated and the gladiators declared the winners.
